Yes, in a way...: The reality is that carbonated drinks, while tasty and enjoyable...Are not "natural" in that they typically contain acids and gases that are not normally found in the gastrointestinal tract. They also may contain incredible amounts of sugar...Almost like drinking syrup. They provide empty calories and can make reflux worse. In moderation, they are fine, but only one or so a day is plenty.

Not the best: Carbonation has some theoretical ill effects, and certainly for high-level athletes it has been shown to have adverse effects on performance (vo2 max). More problematic than the bubbles is the other stuff in most carbonated drinks, e.g. Sugars, salt, artificial colors, empty calories, which are clearly bad for you. Once in a while they're ok, but stick to water for most drinking during the day.
