A 101-year-old female asked:

After drinking morning coffee with sugar my glucose is around 135-140. how bad is that? i am prediabetic simply by diet(not a meat eater) because i consume alot of starches my numbers are high after eating, but just drinking is concerning?

Blood glucose: You are correct apart from straight sugar carbohydrates are a major cause of increased blood sugar levels. The key here is eat in moderation, significantly cut down carbohydrates. The latter is very difficult but not impossible.

Insufficient data: Based on your NUMBERS one can't conclude your numbers are "bad" since the fasting sugar wasn't reported prior to the sugar load being taken. Also, you didn't say how long it took for sugars to go back to fasting levels. Both sets of information are necessary to conclude that your numbers are classifiable as "bad" or "prediabetic." What's your Hemoglobin A1C level? This number is VERY IMPORTANT.
