Yes and No: Yes lumineers can work well if 75% of the tooth is present. Lumineers are not designed for the back of teeth though.

Laminate: Lumineers are laminates. If you are asking about covering the buccal and lingual surfaces, then you might as well be talking about a crown and not a laminate.

Your options:: You can have a laminate for the front of the tooth and a composite bonded filling for the back side, or better yet, it seems like an all ceramic crown might be the best choice for your particular circumstances. However, as we cannot personally examine you and see x-rays of your teeth, we can only give you some general advice. If you need a second opinion, see another dentist.

No: Lumineers are like a fake nail there are just bonded to front side of the teeth. They do not cover the back side of the teeth.

A 47-year-old member asked:

Can lumineers cover the back side of your front tooth?

Dr. Ashish Naik

They can: First of all, lumineers are simply a brand of ceramic that make thin ceramic restorations. There are now many other companies that can do this. In most cases covering the back of your tooth will change your bite and may involve doing work to the rest of the teeth in your mouth, or actually removing tooth structure on the back sides of the teeth you are trying to cover. Consult with your dentist.
A 23-year-old male asked:

My front tooth is 75%. I want to know whether lumineers can cover the back side of my tooth.

No, sorry: Lumineers are porcelain veneers. They cover only the front part of the tooth. If your tooth is broken and the back needs to be covered as well, then you need to have a porcelain crown placed. Lumineers are not the correct product for you.
