IBS: These symptoms are characteristic of an irritable bowel syndrome or a hyperactive gastrocolic reflex. As soon as food enters your stomach a very active wave of peristalsis moves all the way through your intestinal tract causing an urgent bowel movement.Taking an antispasmodic medication like dicyclomine 1 hour before you eat may prevent this reflex. Symptoms 3 hours later is more likely to be IBS.
