my 6 year old has a painful swelling in his upper jaw, it has made his cheek red as well. we have tried using mouth wash and dactarin for the last 3 days, but the infection is still there. do i need to take him to a doctor or a dentist?

Painful swelling: Most common cause is decayed (infected) tooth. Take him to Dentist immediately, as the longer you wait the longer the infection has time to damage other organ systems. If there are no dental issues, Dentist will make appropriate specialist physician referral.
