GERD: Elevate the head of your bed on blocks so that your chest is higher than your abdomen. In addition to avoiding spicy foods, also avoid oily foods and avoid aspirin,anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen, avoid alcohol, caffeine, nicotine. Don't eat after supper.Take a medication like famotidine for a week. Consult a gastroenterologist for testing and treatment if not improved.
