A 38-year-old member asked:

which type of injury can cause bone-marrow cancer for adolescents?

Dr. Tariq Niazi
Orthopedic Surgery 43 years experience
None that is known!: There is no such cause for any cancers. An injury might bring you to a doctor attention, and an xray might show a tumour or some tumour's cause the bone to break, which causes pain, swelling, tenderness, etc and again an xray will show the cause of the break, to be a tumour, which may or may not be a cancer.

None: Blood in an ostomy punch can be many things. Is it a colostomy or ileostomy? Why was the surgery done, history cancer or diverticulitis or colitis? How long ago was the ostomy surgery? Bleeding does indicate need for a doctor evaluation. Can be ostomy appliance irritation, colitis, etc. There is no cancer staging associated with intestinal bleeding.

Occult/hidden: Most of the time there is no visible blood. Testing for bleeding lesions requires testing for occult blood, fecal occult blood test (fbot). There is more than one method. If is recommended that this test be done three times each year on persons over the age of 50, unless they have undergone colonoscopy.

See below: Don't use just your back. Bend at the knee and hips, when you are helping the person stand. That will allow you to take the strain off of your back.

My son is 6 and has been healthy. He started having seizures. He is under medication. Why can this be happening? No head injury or illness.

Seizure disorder: The brain goes through a rather lengthy period of development& growth& continues to remodel itself until the late 20's. A seizure disorder, whether transient & benigh or long term, can emerge at any age & for a variety of reasons. Your dr or neurologist may have a clue for origin after tests, but a large percentage arise from no known reason & are labeled "ideopathic".

A 23-year-old female asked:

Is it ok to make a 2 month old baby sit upright. Won't it hurt her back bone?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Rodrigo Argenal
Pediatrics 22 years experience
Not natural: Sitting is not natural for a 2 mo old. Laying on a surface semi-upright is. If you sit him supporting him (like on your lap while holding him), then it is ok. I would not advise sitting him by himself on a high chair for example.
