about 6 mos ago i twisted my neck and couldnt turn my head for a few days it was so painful! since then,my left hand index finger and sometimes thumb muscles spasm/twitch.no other sym.could me hurting my meck have caused this or this sound serious?

Impingement. : If you are having persistent left sided symptoms of left hand numbness or tingling with muscle spasm a nerve impingement could be possible. Given symptoms to index finger and thumb carpal tunnel a possibility too. You should get this checked into given it has persisted this long.
