my 7 year old son has had a very consistent, pesky dry cough for a week. no fever. acts himself. no trouble breathing. but coughs alot. doctor or no?

Depends: If this in any way interrupts or changes his ability to go through his day productively it is worth a scheduled visit. If he is not bothered by it you could monitor it for a while to see if it passes.
