What causes sudden rapid weight gain? im 29 years old and lately ive noticed ive gained weight rapidly. i weigh 180lb. is this normal for my age?

Depends on timing: You don't say what you mean by "rapid". Obviously, the main cause of weight gain comes down to diet and exercise, but this requres at least a few weeks to gain say 10-15 pounds. If "rapid" means several pounds in only a few days, probably it is fluid retention, for which there are many causes, including serious heart, kidney, or liver disease. If in doubt, see a doctor ASAP.
