Chest discomfort: It is more likely to be a rib cage distress if it's brought on or aggravated by a deep breath. A pinched intercostal nerve or muscle, which runs between two ribs or an inflamed joint at the junction of the breast bone and a rib can cause sharp pains and a tender spot. Inflammation of the lung lining or lung itself, and heart causes are much less likely. However if symptoms persist, see your MD
