Maybe: Many things are possible in life, which means cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection "could" be the cause of PLEVA in this particular patient. Or, CMV infection and PLEVA could merely be coincidentally happening at the same time. Researchers do feel that there is a relationship between CMV (or one of a handful of other infectious germs) and PLEVA, because other patients also have had the two together.
