Not particularly: This is a recessive genetic condition where your father got a faulty gene from both parents who were themselves unaffected. Since they were carriers & not sick from it, his case was likely a real surprise. Your father gave you 1 faulty gene (had to) but the chances of you getting another from your mother are remote.
