You can stay healthy: Patients with a family history are more likely to develop high blood pressure. The key is to keep tabs on your blood pressure and to get treatment early if needed to prevent complications. Lifestyle factors, like exercise and a low salt diet, are important in preventing or delaying onset of high blood pressure. Patients with a tendency toward higher bps are not condemned to have complications.

Common: Blood presssure is normally fuctuating. One minute you many have 120/80 and the next if you are anxious or stressed out could be 200/100. Stress, lack of activity, salt, alcohol, other meds, your weight, can aggressively affect your minute to minute bp.

Treatable: Amlodipine is very effective but at this level it usually takes more than one pill to control pressure. It doesnt have to come down immediately all the way to normal as she might get dizzy, but chances are she will need another pill. She can reduce the need for meds by avoiding salt & sugar, control weight, limit alcohol to 1 glass daily, and increase daily walking when doc says she's ready.

Answer is yes: If heart rate dropping that much best to stop concor and see response to amlodipine alone. Another agent can be added later if needed.
