Depends: If the kid is over 6mo, ibuprofen at a dose of 5 mg/kg given every 6-8 hrs or acetaminophen 10mg/kg every 4 hours are the usual safe home meds. These are sold in liquid form and dispensed with droppers or teaspoons depending on the product. If the fever has been consistently over 102 for more than 12 hrs I would have him seen.
