A 20-year-old male asked:

if i increased my testosterone by 40 % during my puberty naturally ( bodybuilding exercises), did it speed up the fusion of my growth plates?

Doesn't happen: You don't increase your testosterone naturally by exercise or store bought supplements (fake hype). Your testosterone level is driven by genetic & hormonal releasing factors that originate from the brain. You can inject testosterone & raise the level which would accelerate fusion. Growth plates also fuse on a time clock driven by genetics & hormonal factors.

No: Women with androgen insensitivity do not have internal female organs-- no uterus or fallopian tubes. Their gonads are testes, not ovaries. Externally, they have the appearance of normal females, but do not develop pubic or underarm hair.

I'm 34 weeks pregnant and am measuring 38cm when they did the fundo-symphysis measurement. Why do I have to have a scan?

Size > Dates: When the uterus is measuring larger or smaller than expected on an exam the next step is an ultrasound. The ultrasound can measure the size of the baby to confirm normal growth. It also measures the level of the amniotic fluid to make sure it is not too high (polyhydramnios) or too low (oligohydramnios.).

Wart.: I often tell my patients who have palmar or plantar warts that they may need several treatments for these resistant warts on the skin of these areas. This is thicker skin, and therefore more resistant to treatment. I usually freeze it or laser it several times in conjunction with topical therapy.
