Difficulty falling: asleep is often associated w/anxiety while waking up early and not returning to sleep is associated w/depression. Periodic waking is associated w/overall light sleep. Please see you doc who may order a sleep study. A psychologist can help w/stress management. Peace and good health. Natural treatment includes melatonin supplement but w/professional guidance. Stop all stimulants after noon.

Nights mirror our days and they are not all meant to be the same.

Sleep: You need a room that is comfortable, with lack of intrusive noises, light, people, animals, etc. The bed needs to be comfortable and the temperature and humidity comfortable for you. The best sleep is natural sleep , ie not made with medications.

Routine: Establish a sleep routine: no electronics in bed, no caffeine past noon, in bed same time every night, consider melatonin.

Doing slow deep breathing exercise for 15-20 minutes before the bed may help on top on above listed things discussed. Depending on the underlying cause if it is a benign cause may take couple of months to get better. If wakes up in the middle of the night can do it agin if one wishes
