Sleepiness: Do some light activity that involves moving around but nothing too stimulating such as exercise since this may contribute to insomnia. Getting sunlight in the early evening (such as during a walk) is a good way to help stay awake. Of course, if you are getting drowsy and it is time for bed, don't try to fight it and just go to sleep. Avoid caffeine after lunch time.

How can I make sure my baby is warm enough at night without using blankets?

Dress appropriately: In general when dressing your baby you can dress them as you would dress yourself plus one thin layer. In wintertime, depending on your home temperature, it is usually best to dress him with a short sleeve snap top, followed with a warm footed one piece. If this is not enough, add another layer and see if your baby is sweating. In the warmer months remove layers accordingly. No blankets needed.

Why has my baby started waking up hysterical at night?

New stage/habits: This may be prior to your baby reaching a new developmental stage, hunger, a need for soothing, and/or may be related to an illness (fever). Another cause is a night terror, an episode during which your baby may be screaming but is not really awake. Just check on him to make sure he's ok but do not intervene. You may change the terror by slightly waking him just before the time it occurs nightly.

A 34-year-old member asked:

Are there contact lenses you can wear at night that correct your vision?

Yes: There are special contact lenses that can reshape the cornea to treat low levels of nearsightedness. This is called orthokeratology. However, one must go through a series of lenses and continue to wear them to have a lasting effect, similar to wearing braces and then a retainer at night.
