Depends on...: Lots of things "can" happen in life, and there is no universal law governing how much of a drug "can" or "cannot" be prescribed... which means there is no answer to this question. That said, the maximum "recommended" dose is 60 mg per day, divided into several doses per day. The usual starting dose is 5 mg per day. Dosing depends on the doctor, patient, and each individual situation. It's an art.
