A 30-year-old female asked about a male:

my 5.5mth old has liquid poo (like water). he's breastfed, not on solids. no weight loss, lots of wet diapers. no diet change. does he need to see dr?

Breastfed baby: Stool consistency can vary quite a bit. If your baby is feeding well, interactive, making wet diapers and looks well to you, you may wait a day or two and see if this stops or is the new normal. It would be helpful to know that he is not losing weight if loose stools continue a few days.

Dr. David Fein

Yes: Surprisingly, a new study revealed that moms who gained excessive amounts during their pregnancies tended to have children who battled their own obesity issues. The causes were unclear, but, of course, genetics did seem to play a contributing role. The take-home message? Childhood obesity does start before birth.

Swim, bike, eat less: A person's back, hips, knees, and ankles take on a lot of stress when he carries a heavy backpack or gains 50-100 pounds in weight. Obesity can worsen joint problems such as pain, swelling, difficulty walking, or trouble climbing stairs. Even if the original cause of the joint problems were from other diseases or injuries, the heavier a person is, the more wear and tear the joints have to endure.

Can a brain injury on the left side cause pupil changes in the right eye?

Dr. William Becker

Yes, but....: If you are having these issues, you should be in an icu. This is serious. Pupil changes from head injuries are likely a precursor to a fatal event. If this is chronic, i rec a full neurological exam, then an eye exam by an md.
