Post partum bleeding: Most women bleed heavy for a few days after the baby then it typically slows and becomes lighter and darker (brown is darker). Usually women bleed up to 4 weeks or so then if not breast feeding, will have their first period about 30 days after the baby. Breastfeeding will cause light prolonged spotting to occur as well.
