Thyroid Rx: Some foods interfere with thyroid medication absorbtion for hypothyroidism, are drumstick (moringa), Ivy gourd and Jaggery safe to consume? ANS: always take thyroid meds on empty stomach and do not eat for 1 hour.

Safe after an hour: As Dr. Grim said, it's best to take thyroid on an empty stomach and wait an hour before eating. I'm not aware of studies on these foods and thyroid but fiber is known to interfere with thyroid absorption and the foods you mention all have fiber. But any food should be fine after an hour. Taking Vit C with thyroid improves absorption. See http://ubplj.org/index.php/wlmj/article/viewFile/130/149
