Doctor can check: A bump from an ingrown hair on the lower leg should not cause an amount of pain that would make a person limp. There could be something more serious there, and one's primary care doctor can examine the area to see what is going on. One possibility is a skin cyst (epidermal inclusion cyst) that has gotten inflamed or infected... those usually need to be opened or removed.

Get an exam.: It's always best to have bumps like these evaluated formally so that an appropriate plan of care can be dictated.
