Sebaceous Cyst: Your description is consistent with a Sebaceous or Epidermal Cyst, which can persist asymptomatically for years, then become inflamed or tense causing pain. See your clinician to evaluate it, and determine if it should be excised.

Exam needed: This would have to be examined by a physician, but it could be an inclusion cyst or wen. If it's very firm or hard it could be a boney outgrowth of the skull or exostosis which is often present since birth.

Cause of headache: The best way to tackle a headache is to figure out what's causing it in the first place - is it a migraine, from not eating breakfast this am, from skipping a dose of a medicine, from not getting enough sleep? There can be many reasons. For the run of the mill dull headache, i usually like to try some Ibuprofen and/or tylenol (acetaminophen) first and see how it feels after an hour or so.
