Shortness of breath.: If a person gets very short of breath when lying flat, and their oxygen level decreases, then this describes an inability to breathe lying down. Various conditions can cause this including heart failure, diaphragm paralysis, severe asthma or COPD exacerbation, etc. It is an important symptom to tell your doctor!
