Mostly retinopathy: Diabetes is felt to cause a number of eye issues. The main one is diabetic retinopathy. This is a thinning of retinal arterial walls with pouching out termed microaneruysms , which can lead to bleeding, edema and sometimes major dysfunction of the retina. This is why we recommend regular examination of the eyes in diabetics.
