if er prescribed ativan (lorazepam) for anxiety, who do i talk to to continue this prescription? it actually helps. primary doc or psychiatrist?

Primary doctor: I would contact my primary doctor, however, many doctors are nervous about prescribing drugs like this lately, because of fear of persecution by the DEA or the State Medical boards. If you're having anxiety issue, your absolute best bet is to see a psychiatrist, explain to the psychiatrist that this drug which is a class of drugs called benzodiazepines, is the only medication that helps

Depends: In the first trimester, there may be risk of malformations but the studies aren't clear. It is safe in the second trimester. If taken for a long time before delivery or a large dose just before delivery, it can cause a floppy baby that doesn't respond right away. The benefits of the medication may outweigh the risks though. In addition, it can be addicting. You should talk to your doctor.

Depends..: On how you approach it. Using symptoms, there are several categories of anxiety disorders. But, what causes anxiety? From this viewpoint, i would say the major types are those caused by stress/trauma, toxins, nutritional disruptions, allergies, and neurotransmitter imbalances. Therapy should be based on resolving the causes.

Yes: Anxiety can be caused from the release of adrenaline secondary to hypoglycemia. When sugar and artificial sweeteners are removed and small protein snacks are eaten every 2 hours and only protein is eaten at breakfast, many cases of anxiety resolve.

Inderal (propranolol): 20 mg. Is a low dose. Not sure how many times a day it is prescribed, but as long as you had no problems with your blood pressure, skipping one dose should be ok. Inform your doctor if any symptoms occur.
