Unlikely: Meningitis not triggered after a trauma (head injury) will usually be from a germ that enters through the nose/respiratory tract.It crosses through some shared blood vessels, enters the blood and seeds the coverings of the brain.It doesn't have to "eat through "anything. In head injury cases a CSF leak is a first sign of an open portal for infection, but the mechanism differs.
