Not my first choice: Amiodarone is a a potentially toxic drug which I would avoid in young people for a prolonged period of time. There are other options like propafenone, FLECAINADE , and if one must, sotalol, dofetalide. Ablation therapy is also an option. If however amiodarone is the only choice, then I would give a loading dose of 9 g over 10-14 days. 200 to 400 mg twice a day for 10 to 14 days. This would be followed by a maintenance does off 200 mg once a day
