A 31-year-old male asked about a female:

how do we treat cold and flu ( cough) in a 2 year old toddler?

All natural: Steam up your bathroom with a hot shower and read a story. Your toddler breathing in warm steamy air will help with congestion. As she is over a year old, can also give a teaspoon of honey. The CDC and AAP do not recommend cold medicine for children under 4. http://www.cdc.gov/getsmart/community/for-patients/symptom-relief.html

A 38-year-old member asked:

How can I avoid making my toddler feel bad while I am breastfeeding my newborn?

Make him take part: By including your toddler during breastfeeding, he/she can become part of the team. Your toddler can hold your baby's hand, hand you the burp towel and even help pat your little one during the burping process. Praise and positive words will bring a smile as well.

No: Plain Acetaminophen (tylenol) can be used for pain or fever (call your doctor first if your baby is less than 3 months). If your child is older than 6 months you can also use Ibuprofen (advil/motrin). But over-the-counter cough and cold medications are dangerous in children less than 6 years old.
