Constipation: Easier/better to prevent constipation w/more fiber, fluids & exercise than to treat. Basics remain same tho: fiber supplements plus lots of water, then medications. Stool softeners then laxatives of various types. Colace is brand of docusate stool softener. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is brand of osmotic laxative that's safe enough that it's used as bowel prep. Try prune juice, magnesium, senna, bisacodyl or enema.
