Overweight: Please start with a consult with a dietitian - once you have started getting your weight under some control, please go to a gym to work out.

Bariatric surgery: To qualify for bariatric (weight loss) surgery, you have to "pass" many requirements before the surgeon will take you. You have to show that you are able to follow a very strict diet, and lose at least some weight on your own, before they operate. You have to undergo psychiatric evaluation to see if you can handle the change emotionally. It is a drastic procedure and not everyone is a candidate.
