Yes/no: gum recession at a youthful ages = yes and depends on the person and family history
vegan = no and not a cause. I know plenty of vegans etc that have never had an issue.

Not Vegan Related: I am unaware of any correlation between a vegan diet and periodontal disease. Lack of routine examinations and professional hygiene visits, lack of good home care, and smoking could have contributed to your problems. Hopefully you will be treated and your condition will be managed.

Premature: Periodontitis is an infection, and is not diet related. It is not an inevitable result of aging, and therefore the term "premature" is not relevant. Please see a gum Specislist, a Periodontist, to address your disease and it's control. See your Physician or a Nutritionist to make sure there is nothing essential missing from your diet.
