Thoracic spine: muscles on either side of the spine itself can be strained the same way the muscles of the lower (lumbr) spine can be strained/sprained. These are called the "paraverterbral muscles": APPLY HEAT/ICE (which ever helps more) and if the symptoms persist some PHYSICAL THERAPY is the next step! Hope this helps!] DrZ
