13 days late on period but took a pregnancy test it was negative what could cause this?

Several causes: It's still possible you could be pregnant but that your hormone level was not high enough when you took your first pregnancy test. You can repeat a pregnancy test one week after the last. If you are not pregnant, there are several other causes of missed or irregular periods. See your doctor for evaluation.
