A male asked:

are the drugs methotrexate and misoprostol used together for anything else other than abortions?

Maybe: Methotrexate is used in (many cancers) chemotherapy, rheumatoid arthritis, ectopic pregnancies, and molar pregnancies. Misoprostol is used in stomach ulcers (its FDA approved use), bleeding after a delivery of a baby, and bleeding after a miscarriage. We also sometimes use it in place of D&C to prevent an incomplete miscarriage or in term pregnancies to expel a retained placenta.

Sometimes: No matter the cause, D&C is sometimes required if there are "retained products of conception"(pregnancy tissue). This can be seen with miscarriages, medical abortions, deliveries, etc. Keep in close touch with the ob/gyn and they will help through the process and determine if D&C is necessary.

When is the latest a pregnant woman can get an abortion?

Depends on method: Usually first trimester abortions can be safely done up to 14 weeks gestation. Abortions at 16 to 18 weeks are far more complicated. Many states consider a 20+ week pregnancy a"birth event" and abortions are generally not done at that time unless to save a mother in exceptional circumstances.

Anal bleeding aborti: You need to see your gynecologist asap or go to the emergency dept to find out what caused the rectal bleeding, it is definitely unpredictable and is an emergecy.
