It depends : Is the fractures are not displace the may be ok, if the fracture fragment are unstable then is necessary to fixate the fragments. If the fragments are not displace but are through the joint space then is necessary for the patient to be non weight during to avoid damage of the joint. If the fractures are just stress fractures or contusions a walking cast will be fine
