Implants: Dental implants are placed by periodontists, oral surgeons, and many general dentists. Placement of implants should be a collaboration between the dentist who is going to restore the implants and the surgeon who is going to place the implants. The choice of a surgeon should be a decision made between you and your restorative dentist, usually based on a recommendation of the restorative dentist.

Good choice: Periodontists, oral surgeons and even general dentists with proper training are all good choices for implant procedures.

Can Be: Research the qualifications of the surgeon, be they Oral Surgeon, Periodontist, Prosthodontist, or General Dentist. Look for advanced training in implants, years experience, type of implant used (manufacturer - history and location) and testamonials. See the Prosthodontist first to determine the optimum location for restoration, and the best placement can then be determined. Team effort. Good Luck

Great choice: Periodontists use the most advanced techniques necessary to treat periodontal disease and place dental implants. Good luck.
