Get Xray: It is most likely arthritis. You should go to doc to have an xray done. There are other causes such as meniscal and acl/pcl damage which shows up on an mri.

Multiple reasons: Many pathologies can cause knee pain with knee flexion. Without more info and an exam, it is difficult to give a firm diagnosis. If pain is severe, you should be evaluated by your primary care physician or orthopaedic surgeon.

Knee pain: Duration and intensity of the knee pain is important as well as location. If both knees are hurting preventing you from walking and or running a visit to your orthopedist is in order to assess alignment, range of motion, ligament stability, swelling, and strength. Also the hips and ankles can be evaluated, too.

A smart doctor will know this & screen you for other chronic disabling diseases. See your dr! in the meantime, pain is nature's splint. It is telling you something is wrong.Most important thing is not to make it worse. Little or weight on it, get a diagnosis!
