Interesting: Interesting hypothesis. Ask your Dentist to explain "Referred Pain" to you. Before doing anything else I would consider having the wisdom tooth treated or removed. And no, clicking is not a sign present in all dysfunctional jaw joints. You might want to think about discussing your problem with an Oral Surgeon.

Wisdom tooth: Treat the obvious first. Restore or extract the tooth. If pain persists, move on to other possible causes.

Upper Wisdom Tooth: Pain that truly comes from upper wisdom tooth may feel like ear pain or pain may be felt in other areas of the jaw or greater palatine foramen, See you dentist for evaluation and treatment options.
