Nausea & vomiting...: ...are never "normal" no matter what your menstrual cycle is like. Make sure you stay well hydrated. Small sips of a sports drink plus water will help. You can repeat the pregnancy test in a few days. Of course, if your nausea & vomiting haven't gone away by then, you should see a doctor regardless of the test results.

A 36-year-old member asked:

Is it normal for my baby to breastfeed and not have a bowel movement for days?

Yes: Usually after the first few weeks the pattern of stooling can change from after every feed to every two or three days, sometimes even longer. If the baby is urinating, gaining weight and is comfortable this is not a problem.

No: Generally, no. Pregnancy does cause sleep related problems, most notably due to discomfort and/or anxiety, and this can increase problems with depression. After delivery, sleep deprivation can add to this. Good mental health includes personal time, exercise and nutrition and deficiencies in any one do increase your risk.

I have extreme cramps and back pain the first day I get my period so bad and it last awhile and pain meds don't help could this be something serious?

Probably not: In younger women congestive dysmenorrhea can be very severe just before and the first 1-2 days of the cycle. If the symptoms are so severe consider using oral contraceptives which will relieve the symptoms. Talk to your gynecologist about it.

A member asked:

I took 5 aleves (naproxen) and I am having severe nausea. Is this normal?

TOO MANY: 5 Aleve (naproxen) at the same time? That is too much. The package says take 1 pill up to 2 times a day. Never take more than the label says unless your doctor says it is ok. 5 alave can make you feel nausea. This is why they print how many to take safely on the labels.
