Probably infected: You're describing an infection. Wash well with soap and water and apply an antibiotic cream, 3 times a day for 7 days. If swelling gets worse, more lesions appear, develops fever, red streaks that spread from the sore or increased production of pus, take her immediately to see a doctor.
