I just noticed a single flat tiny purple spot on the back of my sons leg. it does not hurt him. it almost looks like a tiny purple bruise. ?

Rash: It could be rash from insect bite or scratch, bruise or may be rash of unknown reason, as long as it is not spreading and causing any other symptoms leave it alone it will get better on its own, if gets worse need to be looked for any kind of dermatitis which may need treatment

It could be a spider: bite, or another insect bite. It also may be a bruise. If it doesn't resolve on its own, or if he develops more, please take him to his doctor.
