i am getting surgery in 2 weeks. my dr will not operate on smokers. if i quit today will he be able to detect nicotine on the day of surgery?

Unlikely: I'm not absolutely sure but I'm pretty sure the metabolites of smoking such as cotinine are not present in urine after 48 hours or so.
Will your surgeon permit you to use a nicotine patch or Chantix? If not I think the surgeon is being unreasonable and I would not like to have a surgeon operate on me who I felt was unreasonable.
