A 21-year-old member asked:
What are radioisotopes, pet and spect?
2 doctor answers • 5 doctors weighed in

Dr. Edward Neilsen answered
Family Medicine 19 years experience
Visibility: Radioisotopes make molecules that are not typically visible on x-rays to show up. In the example of pet, a common molecule used is a radioisotope of glucose (sugar). Tissues that are growing rapidly would accumulate the sugar more readily, and the positrons emitted from them would show up on an x-ray. Spect is similar, but takes more images from different angles to make 3d images.

Always sick: Depends. You may feel sick from work, or you may be sick from other causes. Best to see your physician to be examined to determine the cause of your sickness.

A 38-year-old member asked:
What age is it okay to get a pet?

Dr. James Ferguson answered

Depends : The best answer comes with who you expect to do the day to day care for the pet. There are downsides to any animal around infants & toddlers & i recently counselled a parent whose 4yo shook a biting chiuahua into a wall & killed it accidently. If you plan to care for it, find a kid friendly pet & go for it.There are few kids under 8 that possess the maturity & dependability to handle daily pet needs.
