Safe Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate): Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) has been FDA approved and shown to be safe and effective through randomized - controlled studies. Every drug has a side effect. Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) can cause glaucoma, increased eye pressures. There is also a warning not to get pregnant while taking Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate). It works well for most people. The biggest hurdle for most people is the cost.

Relatively safe: The most common adverse effects being headache, dry mouth, constipation, numbness/tingling, increased heart rate, and increased anxiety/depression. Remember, it's not a cure all, and you'll still be best served by optimizing your lifestyle(how and what your eat and your activity levels.)

Think long-term.: Short term risks and potential for abuse aside, the biggest flaw that I see with weight loss medications like this is the return of overweight once the pill is stopped. You really can't take these pills forever, and once stopped weight gain usually occurs, sometimes to or beyond your original weight. Again, quick fixes tend not to work in the long term. Be sensible and patient.
