my mother discovered today that she has  carpal tunnel syndrome. the doctor said it's stage 5. what are the most effective drugs out there?

Depends: If she is overweight, then an exercise program may be of greatest initial benefit (would need to avoid cycling or other maneuvers that strain the wrist). Ultrasound therapy, nsaid antiinflammatory drugs, and wearing an orthotic splint are helpful for mild-moderate symptoms. For more severe cases, steroid injection is considered and a surgical consult is warranted.
