A 24-year-old male asked:
Is there a link between tattoo ink and cancer? when laser removal frees the ink from the dermis, are the lymphatics able to keep the body clean?

No: Of the millions of tattoos that have been performed there has been no definite link with the onset of cancer which in particular would be suspected of developing in the skin in the region of the tattoos. The etiology of the squamous cell Ca, basal cell Ca and melanoma have been associated with causes unrelated to tattoo. There has also been no complications from removal by laser.
