Bowel rest: Clear liquid diet for a day or two. Most diarrheal diseases are self limited and resolve with no intervention. Hydration is key.

Depends: In medicine we have a saying..its best to treat the disease and not the symptoms. The question is why your having diarrhea at all. Is it an intestinal infection? Do you have Crohn's? Irritable bowel? Hypermotility? Rapid transit? Is it osmotic? Are you taking excess laxatives? Its really a bit more complicated than one might think. You should begin with your PCP and then see a GI.

DIarrhea: Prolonged diarrhea may indicate something other than a simple gasrointestinal infection. It may be caused by protozoa. Have you been traveling? Might indicate an underlying condition with suppressed immune system, or could be a bowel disorder. You need to see your provider for investigation of the problem.
