Carpal tunnel : syndrome is the medical name for that but I'm sure you know that If you mean what exactly happens Most studies talk about a change in the blood flow to the nerve initially the epineurial l tissue Later a change in this layer leads to more consistent nerve problems which is reflected as an alteration in the nerve conduction velocity. Has these nerve changes accelerate clinical symptoms progress as well
